The Del Mar Fairgrounds has been around since the 1930s, hosting a large range of horse racing events, concerts, rides, games, food, and the world-famous San Diego County Fair every summer in June.

According to San Diego County Fair’s Facebook, “The city’s founder and National Ranch Grange leader Frank Kimball were looking for an event to showcase the community’s agriculture, industry, and arts. The event’s success contributed to Kimball later being selected as the State Commissioner of Horticulture.
The San Diego County Fair established a permanent home at the Del Mar Fairgrounds many years later–in 1936.”
